Deacon Ministry
The Constitution at Richmond Hill Baptist Church clearly spells out the requirements for a member to be Deacon, how they are to be elected and the duties of those in this ministry. 

Election
The Church shall at her discretion when deemed appropriate elect Deacons to assist the Pastor(s) in ministries to the congregation.  The Deacons shall meet the qualifications outlined in Acts 6:1-9, I Tim 3; Titus 3.  Individuals or couples may be nominated.

Duties
In accordance with the meaning of the Word and New Testament usage, Deacons are to be servants of the Church.  They have no power to act on behalf of the Church unless specifically asked to do so by vote of the Church.
(i)    They are to zealously guard the unity and fellowship of the Church.
(ii)  They shall serve as a council of advisers and conference with the Pastor(s) in all matters pertaining to the welfare and work of the Church.
(iii)  They shall organize themselves with ministries consistent with the needs of the Church in its outreach to members, visitors and community.  The organizational structure may change from time-to-time to ensure a dynamic ministry  is maintained.
(iv)  They shall assist the Church and the Pastor(s) in the discipline of Church members in keeping with Matt. 18:15-17, 1 Cor. 5:9-13; 1 Thes. 5:12-14.
(v)    They shall serve as a general pulpit supply committee to see that the pulpit is filled in      the absence of a Pastor to do so.
